The Marion County Reentry Initiative (MCRI) is collaborative effort involving community corrections, education, law enforcement and non-profit agencies working together to rebuild lives, promote community safety and save taxpayer money by breaking the cycle of criminal activity.

- > 700 inmates are released to Marion County each year
- 48% are immediately homeless
- >50% have no job prospect
- Most have no transportation
- 60-70% have had substance abuse problems
- >200 are soon back in prison
Prevention Works. Reducing Crime with….
Mentoring - one-to-one mentoring starts in jails, prisons, transition homes and emergency shelters. Mentors provide advocacy for participants. Mentoring ends when the risk is gone.
Transportation – helping to keep people on time and on the job
Family Strengthening – providing counseling and community resources
Jobs -Providing job training and working with business leaders to employ emerging talent
